First preview: EFPT Surf Worldcup Podersdorf

Flag_English Just 17 days left for the European Freestyle Pro Tour till the first competition of the year. Since the organization of the famous Surf Worldcup in Podersdorf, Austria decided to run the competition with a fleet of 32 riders only, but the interest to participate in the event was way higher amongst the riders of Europe and beyond, the EFPT had to generate a seeding list with the top 28 riders who would be allowed to take part. Then, to complete the fleet, wildcards had to be issued by the organizer, Continentseven and the EFPT itself. Now it’s time to present the 32 riders to you

The riders will come out of 14 different Nations from all over the World and the fleet includes some of the biggest talents in freestyle windsurfing to the date. Likes of Tonky Frans (Gaastra/Tabou) from Bonaire, former World-Champion and current EFPT champion Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Neilpryde) from Belgium and his fellow countryman Dieter Van der Eyken (Severne/Starboard) who is in the top positions in both the World and the European tour. Adrien Bosson (North/Fanatic) who is one of the most highly rated riders worldwide will compete against team-mate and local matador Max Matissek (North/Fanatic).

The Continentseven Wildcard winner is the german freestyle talent Julian Wiemar. Congrats to the Windsurf Talent of the Year 2014.

Wildcard for Julian Wiemar – Congratulations!

There’s a big waiting list of riders who want to compete and we’ll see who’ll make it into the event if a competitor who has a fixed starting place intend not to compete. First on the waiting list will be Rasmus Oegelund. The EFPT will provide a full waiting list with ranking shortly and will inform the riders as soon as they know that somebody cannot show up for the registration on the 24th of April, so that somebody can take the place.

Chiemsee European Tow-In Championship

This year, the CHIEMSEE European Tow-In Championship reintegrated into the Surf Worldcup Poderdersdorf. The riders can – but don’t have to – compete in the Tow-In.  You can also registrate for the Tow-In and get a fix starting place as the EFPT don’t has a full fleet of 30 riders yet – maybe that’s a good chance for the riders on the waiting list.

We’ll keep you up2date as good as we can.
